St. Nicholas WTC National Shrine Ground Blessing Ceremony Held October 18th

A Saint Nicholas National Shrine Ground Blessing Ceremony at the World Trade Center is being held on Saturday, October 18th at noon.

The monumental ceremony will offer a prayer service that blesses the property, a memorial service commemorating victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and a Doxology.

The original Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Nicholas was founded in 1916 and was desecrated on September 11th, 2001, when the World Trade Center's South Tower was destroyed.

The contemporary Saint Nicholas National Shrine will be reconstructed close to 130 Liberty Street, that overlooks the 9/11 Memorial.

His Eminence, Archbishop Demetrios of America will oversee the significant ceremony, while the hierarchs of the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America will also participate.

The Saint Nicholas National Shrine Ground Blessing Ceremony will also be attended by New York City officials and dignitaries, New York and New Jersey state officials, interfaith and chaplain delegates, relatives of victims, and Orthodox Christians.
