A Greek teenage swimmer has just broken the world junior record two times in twenty-four hours, during the European Juniors Championship, according to global reports.

Apostolos Christou won the gold medal under the 100 meters backstroke category, at the competition being held in the Netherlands at Dordrecht. During Wednesday's semifinal, the 18-year-old athlete beat the previous world junior record by three tenths, with a final score of 54.41 seconds, while on Thursday he swam the race within 54.04 seconds.

In August, Christou will compete at the Young Olympic Games in China. His ultimate goal is to represent Greece in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games and stated, "It's everyone's dream. I want to be in Brazil in two years' time and be able to stand out", as reported by ekathimerini.
