Σύμφωνα με το ιατρικό ανακοινωθέν του Ιατρικού Κέντρου Αθηνών, όπου ο μουσικοσυνθέτης νοσηλεύεται από τις 26 Φεβρουαρίου, «ο Μίκης Θεοδωράκης υπεβλήθη, σήμερα, την 8η Μαρτίου 2019, σε τοποθέτηση διεστιακού βηματοδότου και σε ηλεκτρική ανάταξη της ταχυαρρυθμίας. Συνεχίζει νοσηλευόμενος στο δωμάτιό του, υπό αγωγή».
