Phony doctor arrested in Xanthi
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A 54-year-old man was arrested in Xanthi, after citizens complained that he was deceiving the public pretending to be a general pathologist. He had in fact converted his home's storeroom into a surgery ward.
According to the case opened, the man had set up his surgery in a semi-enclosed space where he saw patients. At least six people visited him, two of which paid 140 euros as a fee for medical examinations and medical advice.
The perpetrator was found in possession of 43 vials of homemade rubs, three medical books, 44 syringes, of which four had been used and various examination forms. Police are now looking into whether the fraudster had pulled off the scam in other cities.
