Papantoniou condemned for false statement

Former PASOK minister Yannos Papantoniou and his wife Stavroula Kourakou has been condemned to four years in jail by the Athens misdemeanor tribunal for inaccurate ways and means statements.

The penalty can be bought of for 10 euros a day and can be postponed until the final adjudication in appeals court. The case had to do with an inaccurate statement for the year 2009.

The former minister is set to stand trial again on Thursday for another infraction, dated in 2008, while the findings of the appeals board is expected on the charges of criminal violation of the law on ways and means faced by the couple.
