- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
At 8:10, the Suburban railway train number 1539, running the Chalkida-Piraeus route, collided head-on, in Rouf station, with train 884, on the Athens-Kalambaka route.
Twenty passengers were aboard the suburban railway train, but there was no injury, because of the low speed.
The passengers were taken to Rouf Station and continued their route by other means.
The causes of the collission are being investigated.
However, according to first estimates the collission was due to human error.
The operation of the section Athens - Piraeus has temporarily ceased and repair crews are rushing to restore the proper functioning of the service.
