The 2015 state budget has been passed by parliament in a vote that concluded after midnight on Sunday.
As was expected the budget was passed comfortably with 155 voting in favour, 134 against, and 1 'present' in the 300 seat chamber.
All MPs in the coalition government of the New Democracy and PASOK parties voted in favour of the budget as did one independent MP, Katerina Markou.
All opposition MPs and the remaining independents voted against the budget except for the independent MP, Grigoris Psarianos who voted ‘present’.
One PASOK MP, Ahmet Hatziosman, was absent due to illness. Another independent MP Chrysoula Giatagana was also absent, as were the seven Golden Dawn MPs who have been imprisoned pending their trial, together with Stathis Boukouras who has left the neo-fascist party but is also facing charges.
