Mixed messages for Greek request

"The letter from Athens is hardly a solution proposal," said the representative of the Finance Minister of Germany Martin Jaeger, while noting that in fact it aimed at a funding “bridge” without fulfilling the requirements of the program.
"The document does not meet the criteria agreed to at the Eurogroup on Monday," he said.
However, Commission representative Margaritis Schinas noted that the European Commission considers the six-month extension request submitted today by the Greek government to the President of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, as a positive first step. According to Mr Schinas, the Greek Government ts asking for a six-month extension of the so-called "master financial assistance facility agreement". As he explained, this term describes the current program. The request takes the form of a two-page letter, he added.
An extraordinary Eurogroup meeting will take place on Friday at 16.00 (Athens time) in Brussels, according a ministers’ council source. The Eurogroup meeting will discuss the Greek request for a six-month extension of the loan agreement. Greece's request for the extension of the loan agreement was sent on Thursday to the EU institutional partners. Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis leaving the parliament building on Wednesday after the election of President of Republic, "All indications are good. At the Euroworking group there will be an outcome that will satisfy both the Greek side and the Eurogroup president. I believe that on Friday the Greek proposal will be approved".
