A 40-year-old man was remanded in to custody on Wednesday on charges of abduction and rape of a minor, a day after police seized him for allegedly trying to kidnap a 14-year-old youth he lured to a meeting via the Internet.
As he was led to the arraignment onlookers jeered the suspect. His statement to an investigating magistrate lasted for two and a half hours, before he was ordered jailed.
He is suspected of carrying out several other attacks, according to his own admission, reports state. Moreover, police said the suspect had no less than five “appointments” with minors planned in outdoor areas the day he was arrested in the west Athens district of Peristeri.
