Mediocrity will destroy Greece

Ioannis Ioannidis, a distinguished Greek scientist who excels in the US presented a comprehensive analysis of the danger that threatens Greece of disappearing as a nation because of the lack of meritocracy and the institutionalization of mediocrity.
He states that "among top scientists (alive or not), the percentage of Greeks is close to 3%, which is especially impressive given that the Greeks are less than 0.2% of the world population. Of these Greeks, only one in seven (14%) lived or live in Greece, while all others (86%) abroad. "
This is a sensational counting showing that the best Greek potential is draining abroad and offering its services to foreign interests, while Greece is not benefiting from their quality services.
Leading researcher Ioannis Ioannidis, who is director of the Prevention Research Cente) at Stanford University and concurrently Professor of Pathology, Research and Health Policy and Statistics at the same University, has been waging a personal and often lonely fight for meritocracy and against mediocrity, which as he claims, in the case of Greece can eliminate it as a country over the next 50 years.
In this very struggle he focused in his speech entitled: "Medocracy versus Meritocracy" at TEDx academy that took place on Saturday, September 26th at the Music Hall.
