Athenians who pass in front of the French Embassy on Vas. Sofias Avenue lay flowers and candles.
The fence posts are filled with notes and photographs of people who died in the terrorist attacks of 13 November in Paris, while the Embassy has opened a book of condolences.
"Our prayers and thoughts are with you. For us, Paris, France, is the symbol of the modern Republic, for the ideals which we must strive. Courage, " says one condolence message.
"Paris, the City of Light. Athens, the city of the first Republic, which gave its name to Europe. We are next to you," said another message.
"All together," says a third.
