Weather Leaves Two Dead, One Missing on Rhodes

The search for an English teacher, missing since last Friday are continuing by rescue crews on Rhodes.
Crews are searching the area surrounding the Kremasti bridge from where the 53 year old was swept by the flash flood and in the surrounding coastal area where the body may have been carried.
The Rhodes prosecutor today began inquiries as to the deaths of the three persons on Rhodes that were caused by the severe weather phenomena, ordering an immediate preliminary inquest.
Rain began falling again today on Rhodes, without so far causing additional damage.
After last night's meeting among local authorities, chaired by deputy interior minister Leonidas Grigorakos, the island has been put on an emergency footing.
As of today, local authorities also undertook the registration of damages caused to homes, businesses, and infrastructure by the weather, with first assessments speaking of several million euros, at least.
