Smart parking and smart lighting systems to be installed in Chalkida

The first pilot smart parking and smart lighting systems will be installed in Chalkida in the next few days, the mayor Christos Pagonis said.
"We have bought the equipment and we will be ready by January 20," Pagonis said stressing the importance of energy saving.
"Right now there is a waste of energy," Pagonis said referring to the classic lighting systems. The new system provides four different light intensity grades depending on the weather thus saving energy.
"According to our study, energy saving will gradually reach 50-60 percent," he underlined adding that the municipality pays annually 2.5-3.0 million euros to the Public Power Corporation.
Regarding the smark parking system, he said that citizens spend 20-30 minutes on finding a parking lot. The new system will now inform them on the availability of parking.
Moreover, he said, both systems will have a positive impact on the environment.
