Turk arrested for arson on Kastellorizo
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Commandos arrested a 37-year-old Turk who was trying to set fire to a forest area in Kastellorizo, very close to the camp of the commando unit.
According to the report, the 37-year-old was arrested after being chased by a squadron squad on the island very close to the point where the fire ended, ending in the commandos' camp
Initially, the perpetrator, who was located very close to the point where the fire broke out, claimed to be an immigrant and injured, but then he seemed to change his mind and argued that he was making a fire because ... he was cold, to say immediately afterward that he did not have a health problem!
He refused to say anything more about his deed, which brings up scenarios about suspected spy games on the border island of the Aegean.
The fire was brought under control thanks to the immediate intervention of the military and civilians, as well as the assistance of a CL-215 Canadair that carried out airborne water drops.
