First Athens Cat Festival
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Τhe 1st Athens Cat Film Festival is here. Your chance to enjoy the world's most famous feline, up close and personal. Sunday February 2, promotion company “six d.o.g.s.”, NGO “Nine Lives Greece” and the Walker Art Center in the US present a sight and sound extravaganza, guaranteed to make everyone meow.
The event was first presented in Minneapolis in 2012, with its cat-lover organizers treating it as a joke at first. They didn't expect it to gain any internet hype and they certainly didn't expect 10000 people to flood Walker Art Center, one of the most important art venues in America.
The festival was such a hit in Minneapolis, that it went on the road in Boston, Chicago, San Diego, Memphis, and soon traveled overseas. First in Austria, then Ireland, Israel and now Greece. The American organizers came together with Nine Lives Greece, an NGO dedicated in informing the public about all cat issues. The Athens Festival marks the beginning of the NGO's campaign about the importance of cat sterilization, both for the felines' health and for stray overpopulation.
The event will take place at 6 – 8 Avramiotou st. in Monastiraki (downtown Athens) around 5 pm and prepare yourselves for the cutest videos in the world.
