Priest attacks metropolitan bishops with acid during synodic meeting

A priest who threw acid at seven metropolitan bishops and a police officer during a synodic conference that planned to defrock him at Petraki monastery in Athens was arrested on Wednesday evening, Greek police said.
The metrpolitans Nikodemos of Kassandreia, Kallinikos of Arta, Andreas of Driinoupolis, Dionysios IV of Zakynthos, Kyrillos of Kifissia, Demetrios of Goumenissa and Antonios of Glyfada were all hospitalized at Laiko General Hospital and the policeman at 401 military hospital.
According to the police, another two people were also injured.
Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias who visited them hospital said that four of them will remain there and one will be transferred for plastic surgery to KAT hospital north of Athens. The remaining two metropolitans will be transferred either to KAT or to the Eye Clinic of Gennimatas Hospital, depending on the outcome of their recovery, he said, adding that the prime minister has requested updates.
The incident was also condemned by Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou
