Earthquake measuring 4.8 shakes Kymi, Skyros area on Friday afternoon

An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale registered around 4:15 pm on Friday.
The quake had a focal depth of 14.6 km and its epicenter was 24 kilometers east-southeast of Kymi on Evia island, according to the Geodynamic Institute of the Athens Observatory.
As seismology professor Efthymis Lekkas told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, the earthquake occurred in an underwater area betwen Kymi and Skyros island and should not raise concern, while the region is under observation by seismologists.
In addition, the Fire Brigade is conducting patrols in the area, and said no injuries or damage had been reported so far.
