Armed Forces officer arrested for transmitting secret information that endangered national interests

The competent military authorities proceeded to arrest an Armed Forces officer in the early hours of Thursday, February 5, on charges of espionage, according to a statement from the General Staff of National Defense.
As reported, the arrest took place within a military area, in cooperation and coordination with other state services and in the presence of an authorized prosecutor. It was preceded by clear indications of the commission of criminal acts, as provided for in the Military Criminal Code.
According to the same statement, the acts attributed to the arrested person concern the collection and transmission of secret information of military importance to third parties, with a risk of causing harm to national interests.

"On Thursday, February 5, 2026, in the morning hours, the competent military authorities proceeded to the arrest of an officer of the Armed Forces. The arrest took place within a military area, in cooperation and coordination with other state services (in the presence of an authorized prosecutor's office), following clear indications of the commission of criminal acts in accordance with the Military Criminal Code, namely the collection and transmission of secret information of military importance to third parties, with the risk of causing harm to national interests."
