DailyMail: The 38-year-old woman found dead in a suitcase in Kypseli "was living with mysterious Americans before her death"

According to a report by the Daily Mail, police investigating the case are trying to identify a group of “American friends” with whom 38-year-old Elizabeth J. R. had allegedly decided to stay a few days before she was found dead.

The authorities have already examined the environment of her Greek friends in Keratsini, where she initially lived, without so far finding any evidence linking them to the case.

The move to Kypseli and the unknown Americans

The British woman had arrived in Greece on June 26, traveling from the United States via Edinburgh, according to the British newspaper.

During her stay in Athens, she was in Keratsini, but on July 15, she reportedly informed Greek friends that she would be leaving to stay with American acquaintances in the Kypseli area.

Police are now investigating who these people were and what their relationship was with the Briton.

“She told her Greek friends that she would be spending some time with American friends in Kypseli, without giving further details,” a police source quoted by the Daily Mail said.

The same sources note that her Greek friends have already testified and provided information that is considered important for the course of the investigation.

Her mobile phone and messages after her death

One of the key pieces of evidence that the authorities are examining is the 38-year-old’s mobile phone, which remains missing.

According to the Daily Mail, police are investigating the possibility that someone used her phone after her death to create the impression that she was still alive.

A message allegedly sent on July 15 to a Greek friend said: “I need some time – I’m going to a Greek island.”

Police are examining the digital traces of the device, as, according to the information carried by the British newspaper, the phone appeared active in the Athens area until shortly before the official identification of the body.

It was then allegedly deactivated.

Body found in abandoned area in Kypseli

The body of the 38-year-old was found on July 18 in a suitcase in an abandoned parking lot in the Kypseli area, when a homeless person noticed a human limb protruding from the suitcase.

Police are conducting door-to-door searches in the area, collecting footage from security cameras and trying to reconstruct the suitcase's route before it was abandoned.

Authorities estimate that the body was likely transported on July 17. Due to the weight of the suitcase, the possibility that the person or people who transported it had some connection to the wider area is being examined.

The cause of death has not yet been officially announced. According to the information so far, the initial examination did not show any obvious injuries or signs of a struggle.

Family shocked – ‘She was a beautiful and kind-hearted woman’

Elizabeth’s family have expressed their deep sadness after the 38-year-old’s tragic end was revealed.

“It’s horrible. We can’t believe it. She was such a beautiful, loving and kind-hearted young woman. She had not come to Greece long ago to work,” her aunt, Anne Bangham, told the Daily Mail.
