Hydra honors the Hydra community that lived in Costantinople

An event on the theme "The Hydra Community of Constantinople" is organized by the municipality of Hydra in collaboration with the Greek consulate in Costantinople, next Wednesday, November 20, at the Sismanoglio Mansion. The event is being held on the occasion of the fact that the study of the Ottoman Archives, which the Municipality of Hydra took possession of in 2015 following a relevant request to the Turkish government, demonstrated, among other things, the existence of a prosperous community of Hydra residents who lived in the Galata area of ​​Constantinople and the vast majority of its 1500 members worked in the imperial shipyards.

The event will be addressed by the Consul General of Greece in Costantinople, Ambassador Mr. Konstantinos Koutras.

Speakers are: the Mayor of Hydra Mr. Georgios Koukoudakis, the Professor at Ankara University Mr. Ibrahim Arisoy and the President of the Ecumenical Federation of Constantinopolitans Mr. Nikolaos Ouzounoglou.
