Sam Stathis: The Greek American businessman investing on an island in the Corinthian Gulf

After Diaporos, in Halkidiki, where three hotels are already planned to open in the coming years, Trizonia is the focus of investment interest, also a tiny, unknown to many islet in the Corinthian Gulf, where only a few families live in the winter and comes to life mainly in the summer.
According to information from the Financial Report, a few days ago, a new company, Theometrics Trizonia Monoprospi, was founded, based on the islet, with an initial capital of 250,000 euros and with the objectives of research and development services in biotechnology and health, hotels and similar accommodations, as well as water sports rentals.
The manager of this new company based in Trizonia, where there are few hotels and few restaurants from a business perspective, is Sotirios Christos Stathopoulos, relatively unknown to the Greek public, but known as Sam Stathis, an expatriate businessman in the US for over four decades.
Who is Sam Stathis
Sam Stathis, born Christos Sotirios Stathopoulos, as he states in his bio, is an expatriate businessman, investor, programmer, engineer, inventor and philanthropist with extensive experience in founding and operating multi-million dollar companies on a domestic and international basis. As we read on his website, in 1980, Sam Stathis began his career as an electrical contractor. At the age of 25, he became the youngest person in New York to pass the Master Electrician Licensing Exam. He founded Polo Electric early in his career and continues to lead the company as President and CEO.
Polo Electric is a leading electrical engineering firm specializing in highly complex and sophisticated electrical and communications projects. The firm maintains relationships with many prestigious clients, including Goldman Sachs, Ralph Lauren, IBM, Bank of America, Columbia University, New York University, Merrill Lynch, HBO, and MTV. His firm's projects include the modernization of Grand Central Terminal's central traffic control for Metro North, the reconstruction of the Marriott World Trade Center after the 1993 bombing, the first FDNY Command Center after 9/11, the New York Academy of Sciences, the first tenant in the new 7 World Trade Center, the Intrepid Museum, the New Yankee Stadium, and Skadden Arps at Four Times Square, the largest "green building" in the United States developed before the advent of the LEED Rating System.
Originally from the village of Analipsi Thermo, Aitoloakarnania, and whose activities are mainly in the USA, the Greek businessman, according to foreign publications, has established various programs on the other side of the Atlantic, such as conferences on construction and technical innovation, contributing to Start up New York and founding Theometrics University to train young people in precision measurement and navigation in the real estate and construction sectors.
Trizonia: The hidden secret of the Gulf of Corinth
Many may have heard of Trizonia, but few know anything about this small island, which is the largest island in the Gulf of Corinth with an area of 2.5 km2 and the only one inhabited.
This island belongs to the prefecture of Fokida and, together with Spilia and Hania, falls under the Local Community of Trizonia of the Municipal Unit of Tolofonos of the Municipality of Dorida.
Their population is less than 40 residents, according to the 2021 census, while Trizonia is part of a complex that includes three other smaller uninhabited islets, Agios Ioannis, Planemi and Prasoudi. In the center of the island, the picturesque and sheltered natural harbor dominates, and the settlement, which in recent years has been transformed into a marina for pleasure boats sailing in the Corinthian Gulf. The vegetation of the island includes olive trees, almond trees, vines, prickly pears, cypress trees, dense pines, holly trees and eucalyptus trees. Due to its special aesthetic value, it has been classified as a "Landscape of Outstanding Natural Beauty".
