With great pleasure, Alexandroupolis Mayor Yiannis Zamboukis welcomed ten Greek-American students participating in the “Return to your Roots” program to his office.
This specific program is being hosted for the fourth consecutive year in Thrace, strengthening the ties of the Greek diaspora with the motherland.
The students were accompanied by Professor Zoe Gavriilidou of the Democritus University of Thrace, who contributes decisively to the success of the initiative, offering the participants a meaningful educational and cultural experience.
During the meeting, the Mayor warmly welcomed the young diaspora, discussed with them their roots, interests and expectations from the trip to Thrace and the Municipality of Alexandroupolis and wished them a pleasant and creative stay in our country. At the same time, he congratulated them on their choice to get to know the history, language and culture of Greece firsthand.
The program enables participants to attend Greek language courses and participate in educational and experiential visits to cities in Thrace, getting to know the rich cultural heritage and modern life of the region firsthand.
