With a vision to offer an authentic Greek experience to Florida residents and visitors, the restaurant’s founders took the plunge.

The existence of a Greek restaurant with “outdoor” tables in St. Pete, Florida is news and is presented as such by the local fox13news.com. And yes, the city of St. Petersburg has nothing to do with the Russian metropolis of St. Petersburg, but is a city of 260,000 inhabitants on the coast of Florida, in the USA, washed by the Gulf of Mexico.

Daniel Morena and Konstantinos Cheilias had the vision to bring the authentic taste of Greece to downtown St. Petersburg, and they did so with the creation of Mythos Greek Bistro.

How Mythos Started in Florida

Customers often say the atmosphere reminds them of the Mediterranean. “I grew up in Greece, I was born and raised there. I came here when I was about 18,” Morina said. “A lot of people say that, having been to Greece in the past, it reminds them of Santorini.”

“Like the restaurants in my home country of Greece, Mythos offers indoor and outdoor seating, with plenty of room for entertaining and live music,” the entrepreneur added.

“A lot of people love our patio,” he said. “We have a really big patio with about 20 tables outside and a bar.”

Greek Cuisine and Nightlife in Florida

Morina designed the space to combine a traditional dining experience with the vibrant nightlife that people have come to know in downtown St. Pete: “My general idea was to combine a dining experience with a nightlife experience, because we will be hosting a lot of live events here, with live Greek music.”

What’s on the menu at the Greek restaurant in St. Pete

The restaurant focuses on traditional Mediterranean dishes, such as gyros, grilled lamb chops, dolmades, meatballs, country salads and seafood, such as fresh mussels, octopus and sea bass.

“Of course, we have gyros, we have kefalotyri, the flambé cheese saganaki that we serve at the table,” said Morina. The flowing melted cheese “lights up” vividly on the table, and is also served as a side dish with shrimp or scallops.

“We have a variety of grilled meats,” said Morina. “We grill them on charcoal, serve traditional village salads, and have a lot of seafood.”

Diners can enjoy the creative Mediterranean menu, which is complemented by drinks that have references to Greek entertainment culture.

If you find yourself in Florida, you can visit Mythos Greek Bistro at 2501 Central Avenue in St. Pete.
