Travvy awards: Greece gains top distinctions at tourism Oscars

Specifically, in this year's organization of the awards, which are considered the "Oscars" of the tourism industry in the US, our country won:

the gold award in the Best Destination – Mediterranean category, the gold award in the Best Cruise Destination – Europe category, and the silver award in the Best Destination – Europe category.

At the same time, the Greek National Tourism Organization won the bronze award in the Best Tourism Board – Europe category.

These awards reflect the trust, appreciation and continued preference of the international travel market towards our country as a leading travel destination, for the quality of its infrastructure, hospitality, safety and the authentic experience it offers to every visitor.

What are the Travvy Awards

The Travvy Awards are organized annually by TravelPulse and Northstar Travel Group, leading players in the US travel industry. They are one of the most important institutions in the tourism industry, with the winners being selected after a vote by professional travel agents and tourism industry representatives from around the world.

The Travvy Awards 2025 ceremony was held on Thursday, November 6 at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center, while the Greek awards were received by the Head of the Greek National Tourism Organization North America Service, Konstantinos Harokopos, and the executive of the same service of the Greek National Tourism Organization, Faye Georgousi.

After the event, Mr. Harokopos stated that “these distinctions are an honor for our country and recognition of the efforts of the Greek National Tourism Organization, tourism professionals and all those who work to highlight the unique experience that Greece offers. Greek tourism continues to inspire and play a leading role in global tourism developments.”

Distinction also in the Recommend Readers’ Choice Awards 2025

At the same time, Greece took second (silver) place in the category Best Overall Destination – Europe, and in the Readers’ Choice Awards (RCA) 2025 of the American travel magazine Recommend.

The first (gold) place was won by Italy, while the third (bronze) was shared by France and Spain.

The results of the Recommend RCA Awards in all categories are determined through the voting of the readers and associates of the magazine, which is one of the most important media outlets in the travel industry in North America. In this year’s event, travel consultants once again highlighted their top choices in destinations, hotels, resorts, cruises, airlines and other categories, recognizing Greece as one of the most important and beloved destinations in Europe.
