A Greek couple's holiday vacation in Panama and Costa Rica ended in tragedy, with the wife passing away and the husband being hospitalized in critical condition abroad.
It all started when the lawyer Mr. Theotokatos from Lixouri, Kefalonia, and his notary wife went with a group of 26 Greeks to Latin America for the holidays, according to MEGA channel. On the evening of December 30, the wife developed a severe cough and a doctor was notified who examined her and gave her a syrup. The next day, the woman was not feeling well and did not follow the group, while her husband, upon returning, found her with blisters, according to the same sources. She was then transferred to a hospital in Panama and expired, according to ekefalonia.gr.
"They were a couple who were fine. Suddenly - there were others in the group who were wearing masks - the woman had a headache one day, the next she had a coughing fit and a doctor came and told her to take syrup. She took syrup and on the 31st of the month when she stayed at the hotel to rest, her husband came back at noon and she had blisters. He took her to a hospital in Panama, she had complications and on January 2 she died. Just like that. The woman seemed fine", a member of the group told MEGA. "There were several doctors in the group but they did not find anything so severe that they told the woman to do anything", he said, among other things.
The lawyer then decided not to follow the group that was returning to Greece and chose to take another flight with a stopover in Paris. However, in Paris he collapsed and is hospitalized in serious condition, according to the same information. "We left on the 2nd of the month at noon, he wanted to leave that evening on another flight with a stopover in Paris. He didn't take the body, I learned that he returned alone and another relative was going to take care of it. In Paris, he had a fever and we know that he is in critical condition," said the woman who was a member of the group.
