Rubio, Gerapetritis discuss US-Greece cooperation in Eastern Mediterranean

The importance of US-Greece cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean was at the centre of a phone call between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis on Wednesday.According to a State Department statement, Rubio reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral relationship between the US and Greece, highlighting in particular cooperation in defence, energy, law enforcement and technology. He also thanked Greece for its role as a steadfast NATO ally.
State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said the US secretary of state also underlined the longstanding ties between the two peoples.Pigott’s statement is as follows:“ Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgios Gerapetritis today regarding the importance of U.S.-Greece cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean. Secretary Rubio thanked Greece for its role as a stalwart NATO ally and reaffirmed the continued strength of the United States-Greece bilateral relationship in defense, energy, law enforcement, technology, and enduring connections between our people.”
