New Technology Threatens Greek Outdoor Movie Theaters
Open-aired cinemas have been a historical element of Hellenic life for many years, as Greeks have relished in watching movies in the beautiful outdoors.
Outdoor movie theaters endured the nation's real estate market boom and its financial crisis, and offered movie goers an economical pastime, as reported by the AP.
The international transfer to digital projection threatens the industry, as independent cinema owners can't afford the new costly technology. However, none of the Greek outdoor cinemas have claimed they will stop operating from their outdated projectors.
