More heavy weather for Greece
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Particularly heavy snowfalls were again seen from Monday evening in eastern mainland Greece (mainly in the regions of Attica and Voiotia), in the Sporades, Evoia, the Cyclades and Crete and will continue periodically throughout today. The phenomena are predicted to ease on Wednesday.
Around the capital in the region of Attica, snowfall will continue in the mountains and foothills of Parnitha and Pendeli and associated suburbs (from 200 meters altitude and upwards).
Today the snow will be particularly heavy at times mainly in northern and eastern Attica. Local snowstorms will occur in the northern suburbs and potentially even in the city center. The bad weather will begin to ease on Wednesday afternoon.
Temperatures will be particularly low over the next three day period, particularly in central and northern areas of the country. The mercury will drop significantly below zero in many areas with minimums from -10C to as low as -25C in northern regions.
