Thessaloniki PASOK cadres resign to join Papandreou

Their decision to resign from PASOK and join the Democratic Socialist Movement of George Papandreou announced 71 party members in Thessaloniki through a joint statement.
In the statement they refer to a "mutation of PASOK into a party of executives and agents, the tail end of the conservative government of Samara" and noted: "Faithful to the principles and our values, we declare publicly our resignation from any party status. We start from the beginning. We co-sign the founding declaration of the Democratic Socialist Movement."
Among those who signed are current and former councilors, lawyers, teachers and students. On Wednesday, the Democratic Socialist Movement will organize the first open event, at 6 pm at the Thessaloniki town hall and on Sunday they are expected to list the names of the candidate MPs.
