Greek position hurt by deposit outflow
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Kostas Chrysogonos was highly revealing about what is happening today in the government and its negotiation with lenders.
The SYRIZA MEP, and constitutional law professor speaking to VIMA FM, argued that Greece is in a more difficult negotiating position than it was two months ago, due to the outflow of deposits from Greek banks! In fact, he went so far as to say that Greece is going and ... begging the head of the ECB, Mario Draghi!
As he stated: "The country is currently in a more difficult negotiating position than it was two months ago, because we had an outflow of deposits of around 25-26 billion euros from Greek banks, which obliges us every week, to go to Mr. Draghi and beg for a raise, each time by a few billion from the emergency liquidity mechanism. Because tax revenues have collapsed, and are lagging behind about 20% compared to forecasts ".
