Migrant policy order causes uproar

Alternate Citizen Protection Minister Yiannis Panousis and the chief of the Hellenic Police asked for the resignation of officers following an order that passed around on Tuesday regarding the release of migrants from the detention centers, which caused an "uproar".
During a press conference earlier on Wednesday, Panousis said that he had not been aware of the order, which was revoked earlier today, and ordered an investigation, while the chief of the Hellenic Police asked for the resignation of the involved officers.
The Alternate minister noted that the leadership of the ministry and the police had not been informed on that document and "a brigadier cannot take such decisions."
He clarified that the government's migration policy has not yet been announced and wondered how it is possible for such decisions to be taken. Panousis also talked about "a jungle of misinformation" and explained that for that reason he will not give interviews to the media, but he will simply brief the journalists with announcements.
