Government toppled from within, State Minister tells SBC
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
In an interview to the television channel SBC on Wednesday, State Minister Nikos Pappas said that the government had been toppled "from within" by the "internal opposition" within SYRIZA, not just the old political system.
One of the prime minister's closest and most trusted aides, Pappas also referred to financial interests that were displeased by the government's choices and "foreign" power centres that wanted to show all European peoples what the election of the left government will mean.
Pappas noted that voters must now decide whether current prime minister Alexis Tsipras or someone else will be responsible for the upcoming negotiations on Greece's debt. He said Tsipras had a clearcut position that this must be restructured and reduced, in order to lighten the load on Greek citizens and the Greek economy, unlike the opposition parties that had long claimed the Greek debt was sustainable.
