Government: IMF demands outside Greece΄s bailout agreement
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The government spokeswoman Ms. Gerovasili stated yesterday that the IMF is pressing demands which are outside Greece΄s bailout agreement, accusing the fund of undermining the role of the Greek government and EU institutions.
Ms. Gerovasili criticized the IMF for rejecting the Greek proposal to introduce a mechanism that would automatically trigger spending cutbacks if budget targets are missed, adding that the legislation of contingent measures is not within the frameworks of the Greek Constitution and European legal values.
She also expressed her optimism that a specific date for the Eurogroup will be set in the coming days, while the programme review will be completed and Greek economy will return to growth.
