The case of the murder of Vaia Nestora, like other cases of victims of terrorist and extremist acts, was a point of reference at the special conference organized by the State Department to address the resurgence of political terrorism, with the participation of 65 countries.

During his intervention, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio referred to the case, saying that the participants were at the conference because, just two weeks earlier, a 72-year-old woman in Greece had suffered burns to more than 80% of her body in her own home and eventually lost her life. As he stated, the woman was killed by an arson attack, due to the fact that her daughter had decided to run for public office.
