ACS Athens Posts Record-Breaking IB Diploma Results for 2025–26
ACS Athens has announced its strongest International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma results in the school's history, with the Class of 2025–26 achieving a 100% success rate and an average score of 37.98 — the highest average the school has ever recorded.
The results place ACS Athens among the top-performing IB schools in the world, with one student earning a perfect score of 45 and four others achieving near-perfect scores of 44.
Key Performance Metrics
| Metric | Result |
|---|---|
| IB Diploma Success Rate | 100% |
| IB Diploma Average Score | 37.98 |
| Perfect Scores | 1 student (45 points) |
| Near-Perfect Scores | 4 students (44 points) |
Beyond the headline figures, the cohort's performance was strong across the board: 35.6% of students scored 40 points or higher, 55.9% achieved 38 points or more, and 98.3% scored 30 points or above — benchmarks the school says place its students among the top IB performers worldwide.
The school also noted that its average of 37.98 significantly outperforms the global IB average, which traditionally fluctuates between 30 and 32 points.
A Community Effort
School leaders credited the results to more than individual achievement, pointing instead to the collaborative culture within the ACS Athens learning community.
"Excellence is never achieved alone," said Evelyn Pittas, Director of IB and AP at ACS Athens. "These remarkable IB results are the product of a community that believes in high expectations, meaningful learning, and one another."
ACS Athens President Peggy Pelonis echoed that sentiment, framing the results as part of a broader institutional tradition rather than a one-time achievement.
"Excellence is not a destination, it is a tradition," Pelonis said. "Our remarkable IB Diploma average of 37.98 reflects the passion, perseverance, and purpose of our students and educators. As we celebrate 50 years of the IB and our pioneering role as the first school in Greece to offer the IB Diploma, we are reminded that true excellence continues to inspire generation after generation."
A Milestone Year
The record results arrive at a symbolic moment for the school: 2025–26 marks 50 years since ACS Athens first began offering the IB Diploma Programme, having become the first school in Greece to introduce the curriculum back in 1976 — among the earliest schools in the world to do so.
School officials say the achievement extends beyond individual recognition, positioning the Class of 2025–26 among the global academic elite and opening doors to some of the world's most prestigious universities.
