Police Officer, Two Albanians Killed in Border Shootout

Α 43-year-old police officer and two men believed to be Albanian nationals were killed in the early hours of Sunday during a shootout near the Greek-Albanian border.
According to reports, the dead officer was one of three border policemen patrolling the area near the Small Prespa Lake in Florina, northwestern Greece, on the lookout for poachers and unlicensed fishermen.
The shootout occurred when the officers came across a small hut near the lake and asked the two men inside to identify themselves.
The two suspects, identified by police as Albanian nationals, allegedly responded by shooting at the officers with Kalashnikov assault rifles.
The police officer killed has been identified as 43 year-old Ilias Kostenis father of a 12 yearl-old girl.
