Health Ministry in favour of medicinal cannabis
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The Greek Ministry of Health is examining the prospect of permitting a limited use of cannabis for medicinal purposes.
A report presented to the Ministry points out “the pharmacological properties and the under investigation subsequent therapeutic indications of cannabis after procedures of approval are acceptable.”
The Health Ministry was initially positive in adopting measures to allow patients with specific diseases access to cannabis-based medicine with proven clinical benefits. The finding, authored by substitute Professor of Pharmacology, and president of the committee for the use of medicinal cannabis, Katerina Antoniou also includes proposals and recommendations for a regulatory framework on the matter.
