Turmoil over how letter bomb foiled security

The letter bomb targeting former PM Loukas Papadimos and the way it managed to evade security controls has led to aa turmoil among services and perdsons responsible.
However, as Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Toskas admitted when he visited the former Prime Minister at the hospital, "a security vacuum exists and we will look into it." At the same time, there are contradictory allegations by Greek Police officers on whether or not the explosive letter went through Parliament scanners.
Meanwhile forensic laboratories are trying to identify the perpetrators, while attempting to reconstitute the remains of the explosive envelope. So far it has been found that the pyrotechnic material and the firing mechanism were placed inside a rigid cardboard housing, the edges of which were glued, which would have made it easier to locate by scanners if there was trained human observation.
