Hiker dies in accident on Mount Olympus, another rescued

One of two hikers that became trapped on Mount Olympus has died while the second was successfully rescued in an operation mounted by the fire brigade to find them, Greek authorities said.
In an announcement late on Saturday, police said that one of the young hikers died after falling off the path into a 200-metre deep ravine, near the Spilios Agapitos refuge on the mountain. Rescue workers recovered his dead body, while the second hiker was in good health and was taken to safety to the location Prionia.
The Dios-Olympus police department has launched a preliminary inquiry into the cause of the death.
