Police arrest Greek national sought by Italy for financial crimes
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A 61-year-old Greek male was arrested in the suburb of Paleo Psychiko on Wednesday afternoon, based on a European arrest warrant.
The man was being sought by Italy on charges of partipating in a criminal ring, using fake documentation, and tax evasion.
Greek police said the man was a member of an international crime ring handling companies that issued fake receipts, evaded taxes, and faked bankruptcies for financial gain.
The 61-year-old is known to Greek authorities for a series of similar offences, and changed homes continually while using cars registered to others. He was led before an appeals prosecutor, who ordered him detained.
