Egyptian minister: The fishermen who saved people in Mati fires are Egypt's best ambassadors

Egypt's Minister for Diaspora and Migration Policy, Nabila Makram, on Friday expressed great satisfaction and offered her warmest congratulations for the self-sacrifice shown by the Egyptian fishermen who helped save human lives during the deadly fires in Mati, defying the danger and now receiving Greek nationality as their reward.
"You were Egypt's best ambassadors and demonstrated your true bravery and humanity by saving Greek people who were in danger from the fires in Attica," Makram said in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).
The minister thanked Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras for his decision to grant Greek citizenship to the two Egyptian fishermen.
She also referred to her conversation with Deputy Foreign Minister responsible for diaspora issues, Terence Quick, who first informed her of this decision. As she said, this demonstrates the close relations between the peoples of Greece and Egypt.
