Kathimerini: We are not daunted by bomb attack

A blast that occurred at 2:35 a.m. outside the building housing Kathimerini and Skai TV did not injure anyone but caused extensive damage on the facade. A call to Zougla news site and ANT1 TV had warned of the explosion.
"Kathimerini will circulate tomorrow (Tuesday), as it has done the past 99 years except during the era of the dictatorship," its announcement said, noting that the attack "will not daunt any of us" and thanking everyone for the support they expressed.

"We hope that the sick phenomenon of targeting the mass media will stop here now. It is extremely dangerous for democracy," it said and called on the state to realize the seriousness of the situation, being responsible for the protection of diversity in opinion.

Several political leaders in Greece including the president of the republic, the prime minister and party leaders, as well as ministers and other officials, condemned the attack and expressed support for diversity. Strong messages were also sent by the National Council of Radio and Television (ESR), the Journalists' Union of Athens Daily Newspapers (ESIEA), and the National Federation of Press Unions (POESY), among others.
