Coast guard carries passengers stranded by Samothrace ferry breakdown
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The Hellenic Coast Guard's Offshore Patrol Vessel 090 "Gavdos" was loaned to transport passengers stranded on the island of Samothrace and in the city of Alexandroupolis after the passenger-car ferry "SAOS II" that normally plies the Alexandroupolis-Samothrace route broke down on Friday.
The "Gavdos" sailed into Kamariotissa harbour in Samothrace on Sunday night and took on 67 passengers before setting sail for Alexandroupolis port. It then carried out another two runs, the first carrying 86 passengers from Alexandroupolis to Kamariotissa and a second with six passengers from Kamariotissa to Alexandroupolis.
