Α draft bill that will open the way for the exploitation of 10 large regional Greek ports which are part of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (TAIPED), will arrive at the plenary of the Greek parliament for voting on Thursday, February 21, it was announced on Tuesday.
The draft bill, which will ratify the concession contracts that have been drawn up between the Greek state and Port Authorities SA and will contain a series of clauses regulating the function of the port governance system among other matters, will grant TAIPED the right to proceed to the subconcession of certain activities at these 10 regional ports of the country.
The authorities of each one of the ports in question (Alexandroupolis, Volos, Elefsina, Igoumenitsa, Heraklion, Kavala, Corfu, Lavrio, Patras and Rafina) will determine the activities that will be offered on an international tender, while the tenderimg process will be run according to national and EU law.
It is noted that, in this case, the Greek state will only grant subconcessions and not sell ownership stakes, as it did for the ports of Piraeus and Thessaloniki.
