Mitsotakis sets five axes for maritime policy

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted the five pillars of maritime policy during a visit to the Ministry of Maritime and Island Policy.
Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized that in a discussion he had with the Minister of Maritime Ioannis Plakiotakis they set the priorities and focused on five axes:
1. Oceangoing Shipping
Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized: "Our goal is to make the national flag again attractive to Greek shipowners, but also to drastically enhance the maritime education framework so that we can attract more young children to the sea and provide them with quality education so that pursue a career in an industry where our country has great comparative advantages »
2. Ports
"The flagship port of Piraeus is one of our priorities in terms of how to attract investment to develop Piraeus into a globally competitive port but also to develop our other ports to function properly and safely," the prime minister added. .
3. Maritime tourism
"The tremendous opportunities that are open to maritime tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism will make Greece a pioneer in maritime tourism and make full use of the very important revenue that maritime tourism brings to Greece," Mitsotakis continued.
4. Island policy
"15% of Greeks live in islands and we discussed with the leadership of the ministry to explore the possibility of a sectoral program for island policy under the new NSRF so that we can finally have a single funding tool to support their actions. of our islands, and especially of the small islands that need a special framework of care and support, "the prime minister said.
5. Safety at sea

"It is inconceivable in an island country to have so much choking. We will take full advantage of the technology possibilities so that we can swim in the seas safely, "concluded Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Finally, the Prime Minister thanked the men and women of the port for their work, and promised to strengthen the port body which effectively guards the maritime borders that are also European.
