Surgeons at Kerkyra General Hospital carry out first artificial iris-glaucoma operation in Greece

Surgeons at the Ophthalmological Clinic of the General Hospital of Kerkyra have successfully combined the implantation of an artificial iris with a glaucoma operation in the eye of a patient suffering from post-trauma defects for the first time in Greece.
The innovative surgery was carried out on Wednesday, January 29 and officially announced on Monday.
According to a Corfu General Hospital announcement, "the specific artificial iris was introduced for the first time in Greece at the request of the CGH Opthalmological Clinic and the positive response of the Hospital's scientific council and board. It is a high-quality artificial iris in the patient's size and colour, whose cost was fully covered by the CGH and which has been implanted for the first time in Greece."
