Mitsotakis: Civil protection overhaul ends decades of dysfunctionality
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
"I made a commitment prior to the elections that we would immediately restructure Civil Protection. We said it and did it: We are ensuring the coordination of the agencies involved, we have put an end to the overlap of responsibilities and created a vertical structure for the management of emergency needs," Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis posted on Twitter on Wednesday.
Mitsotakis noted that the Civil Protection bill, which creates a hierarchical structure with one national commander and 13 regional commanders, puts a definitive end to decades of dysfunctionality and shifting of responsibilities.
