Chinese man suspected for coronavirus isolated in Attikon hospital proves negative

Featured Chinese man suspected for coronavirus isolated in Attikon hospital proves negative

As of Tuesday night (11/2), a 33-year-old Chinese man has been in isolation at Atticon Hospital as part of a search to determine if he has been infected by the COVID-19 virus, as the new coronavirus was officially named yesterday. As of noon Wednesday he proved negative to COVID-19.

The 33-year-old traveled from China to Greece and developed symptoms of infection (cough and fever).

He first visited a private clinic, but both his history and the outbreak of coronavirus prompted doctors to act in a timely manner, notifying the National Public Health Organization and ambulance service EKAB. The Health Ministry's action plan was immediately implemented. A special-purpose ambulance arrived and took the patient, transporting him to Atticon, one of the country's 13 reference hospitals.

In this case the alarm for the coronavirus will expire. However, if the 33-year-old's samples were positive, then the authorities would have to act promptly to minimize any chance of the new coronavirus being transmitted further into the country.
