Greece swings towards French Belharra frigates
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Information has been circulating on the internet for the last few hours that Greece has accepted the French proposal for four French Belharra frigates and two modernized La Fayette frigates until the first are built.
The French proposal is certainly one of the best, but it has not yet been decided whether Greece will accept this proposal or whether it will look at some of the others.
Simply put, the French proposal will be at the top of the Navy's list (as the proposals are at the moment) of proposals that meet the specifications.
The French have greatly improved their original proposal but the ship's equipment is still to be decided.
Two of the four Belharra will be built in Greek shipyards, according to the specific information.
Any decision will be made in early May, with the French frigates really being the favorites. But because a lot can change we will inform about the proposal as soon as it is finalized.
