President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou on Monday, the second day of her visit to Kalymnos, went to the island of Pserimos and talked with the residents of the remote Greek island.
In a statement, the Greek President said that from her first day in office "I underlined my interest in the remoter parts of Greece. During every visit to remote islands I am very touched with the islanders' dogged determination to live on their land despite the adverse conditions, especially in the winter, the lack of infrastructure and the communication difficulties. Yesterday, I visited Telendos and talked with the islanders and the four pupils of the school.Their decision to continue to live here, giving life to the islets of the Aegean, is of major national importance. I want to express to them my deep respect and to reassure them that the State is at their side, a supporter in their effort to remain and prosper in their land".
On Sunday, Sakellaropoulou was declared an honorary citizen of Kalymnos.
